Tunkhannock
I love Google Maps, but I hate how rigid the scrolling is and how the images don’t load and how small the viewports normally are. I really just want to be able to look at a large image of some place. Anyway, I finally figured out how to kinda do this. Using the Google Maps API, Make a ridiculously big div, 5000px square maybe. Then using a screen shotting app to capture it. You need software that will scroll the page and continue to add to the total, so the built in Shift+Apple+3 won’t work. Also the Screengrab! Firefox plugin doesn’t have enough guts to grab an image that size. I’m using a program called Paparazzi! (why do all these apps have an exclamation mark?). My first attempt was with a 10k square image, which Firefox could load beautifully, Paparazzi! could choke out an image, but I couldn’t get it below the 10meg limit on photos on Flickr. Here’s my Tunkhannock, PA shot. You can see from Will’s place to half way to my parents place. Probably like 10 miles.
