Demonyms

I quite recently had been looking for a term to match a definition. I knew there had to be a word that describes people from a particular country, city or region. I am usually very good at researching these topics but turned up nothing when I serched dictionaries and Google. On a recent jaunt to Wikipedia, however, paydirt! Demonym!

A demonym or gentilic is a word that denotes the members of a people or the inhabitants of a place. In English, a demonym is often the same as the name of the people’s native language: e.g., the “French” (people from France).
